INSOLVENCY STATISTICS FOR THE SECOND QUARTER 2004

Quarterly figures for company and individual insolvencies were published today.  The figures show company insolvencies have fallen when compared to the same period last year, however individual insolvencies (bankruptcies) have risen.

LEGACIES’ END FOR DISQUALIFIED WILL & PROBATE DIRECTORS BUSINESS FAILS WITH DEBTS OF MORE THAN £4.5 MILLION

Two directors of a business providing will and probate services which failed with total debts estimated at £4.5 million are prevented from and have both agreed not to hold directorships or take any part in company management for 11 years each.

PLANS TO IMPROVE PROCEDURES TO RE-DIRECT A BANKRUPT'S POST
Plans to introduce specific changes to re-direct a bankrupt's post were set out today by The Insolvency Service. The changes are aimed at the minority of bankrupts who willfully fail to co-operate with either the trustee or the official receiver in a bankruptcy.

ON-LINE ACCESS TO A BANKRUPT'S DETAILS
From today access to information to identify bankrupts has been made easier. An on-line database, developed by The Insolvency Service, will provide free, instant access for consumers and businesses to find out whether or not an individual is an un-discharged bankrupt, the subject of a bankruptcy restrictions order (BRO) or party to an individual voluntary arrangement (IVA).
