Management Development Programme Update

The Services MDP programme is well underway with almost all our managers having attended the training needs analysis workshops; thirty-four workshops ran with 439 managers attending. Have you completed your self-assessment yet, if not do hurry as provision for modules is being allocated.

The programme is addressing the core needs of managers ensuring that you’ll be well equipped to do the job in hand. Of course we do understand that at times there will be managers who have needs over and above the competency framework of the MDP. The Learning and Development team are prepared to address these needs as and when they arise. For example negotiation skills and project management skills, which some managers may need for their work, will be catered for centrally if the needs are identified in a PPP review with the line manager.

Training for Excellence are designing the modules which will be available from September 2002. This will be done in partnership with the Learning and Development team and some members of the MDP focus- group, we are planning to pilot some of the modules in August. The content of the modules will be made available to you via the intranet once established. We will continue to update you about the MDP using the intranet to inform you of the programmes progress.

During the workshops a number of questions were asked we have replied to the most frequently asked below.
